Beehad of Chambal

Beehad (बीहड़) of Chambal: Bihad/ Beehad of Chambal in eastern Rajasthan lies within the semi-arid zone of north-western India at the border of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh States. Chambal ravine or 'beehad' in Dholpur district of Rajasthan has harboured dacoits (bandits) for centuries. In modern times, due to the old legends and rugged terrain, the labyrinthian ravines along the river were hiding places to gangs of bandits led by colourful figures like Man Singh, Daku Madho Singh, Paan Singh Tomar and Phoolan Devi. The last notable dacoit, Nirbhay Gujjar was killed in 2005.
Yesterday i got time to visit Beehad area of Rajasthan during my visit to Gwalior through Dholpur district of Rajasthan. Beehad was known for dacoits once but now govt. must take some initiative to use this area for industry or proper forest instead of Beehad which is hardly useful for state people as on date. Here are some of Pictures click through Mobile which display calm beauty of these beehad.

Rs. 10 plastic bank notes in India soon - Chidambaram

Indian Govt. has decided to bring Rs. 100 crore worth of plastic notes soon as per report to curb fake currency problem from across the border. Finance minister P Chidambaram said on Thursday. "Fake currency is a problem...This is a problem that arises from across the border," he said during Question Hour in Rajya Sabha. Without naming any country, he said it is not possible to check supply of fake notes at the source itself as "there is a state support".
Chidambaram informed the House that with a view to increasing the life of bank notes, particularly in lower dominations, the RBI in consultation with government has been considering various options including printing of polymer bank notes. He said a decision had accordingly been taken to introduce one billion pieces of Rs. 10 bank notes on polymer in a field trial basis in five cities. "The primary objective of introduction of polymer/plastic notes is to increase its life and not to combat counterfeiting," the minister said.
What are plastic / polymer notes: Plastic bank notes or polymer bank notes are made from a plastic polymer. They aim to incorporate a lot more convenience, durability and enhanced security features as compared to paper bank notes. If these polymer bank notes are implemented in the Indian system, India will be following the footsteps of Australia, New Zealand and a few other countries on the world in terms of currency notes. At the moment, a total of 7 countries have polymer bank notes in circulation.

Pandit Ravi Shankar passes away

Sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar passed away in San Diego on Tuesday. He was 92. He was admitted to the Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla last Thursday after he complained of breathing difficulties. He breathed his last at 4.30 p.m. Pacific Time. According to an official statement issued by The Ravi Shankar Foundation, the meastro "suffered from upper-respiratory and heart issues over the past year and underwent heart-valve replacement surgery last Thursday. Though the surgery was successful, recovery proved too difficult for the 92-year-old musician."
The sitar exponent, perhaps could be called India`s musical ambassador and was responsible for making Indian classical music popular in the West. He had collaborated with several international artists including George Harrison of ‘The Beatles’ which had garnered him fame and adulation all over the world.  As evidence of his staying power, consider that Shankar received India's three highest civilian honours -- the Padma Bhushan in 1967, the Padma Vibhushan in 1981 and the Bharat Ratna in 1999 -- each in a different decade!

Lets enjoy 12.12.12 as special day where Day, Month and Year is same i.e. 12. After more than a decade of repetitive dates starting on New Year’s Day 2001 remember when 01.01.01 we will see next triple digit on 01.01.2101.
