Rajasthan Ministers, Gujjars talk on 9 July

Rajasthan Gujjar Arakshan Sangarsh Samiti, which was expected to meet the state government on Thursday, would now be in Jaipur for the meeting on Saturday. The 51-member delegation, which includes representatives from the Special Backward Classes (SBCs), will now meet the three-member ministerial committee at the state secretariat on Saturday. A day after the delegation held a review meeting and demanded to meet chief minister Ashok Gehlot and state energy minister. The Gujjar face in the Gehlot cabinet, Jitender Singh talked to senior community leaders on Wednesday. Singh reportedly told the community leaders that 50% of the work agreed upon between the state government and the delegation was done.
“We today fixed a meeting with the government for July 9. Our delegation will meet the committee of ministers which was present during the agreement in January this year,” Roop Singh, an aide of Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla, said. The committee comprises of state Home minister Shanti Dhariwal, Energy minister Jitendra Singh and Transport minister B.K. Sharma. The Gujjar leaders have alleged that the government has delayed process of quantifiable data collection exercise of the five communities as directed by the High Court. They have also threatened to revive their stir if the government was found not to be serious to meet their demands.
