FIR against Former RSS Chief Sudarshan in Rajasthan

Rajasthan police has filed an FIR against former RSS Chief K S Sudarshan for making 'derogatory utterances' against Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi. The FIR, under section 153(B), 505(1 and 2) and 500(2) of the IPC for spreading hatred and damaging national unity, has been lodged against Sudarshan at Manak Chowk police station here on a directive from the court, a police spokesman said here today. Chief Judicial Magistrate P K Sharma had yesterday issued the directives to the police to file the case on a complaint by one Suresh Mishra. The court order had come on the complainant's contention that the RSS leader's statement against Ms Gandhi is tantamount to an act of spreading hatred in the society. Sudarshan made some derogatory remarks against Ms Gandhi at a programme in Bhopal on Wednesday and even described her as a CIA agent.
The remarks evoked sharp reaction from the Congress. Several leaders including Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Party state President and Union Minister C P Joshi condemned Sudarshan for his comments. The Congress activists yesterday held demonstrations at different places in the state, including the state capital and burnt the former RSS chief's effigies.
